He needs to take an anti yeast, like Diflucan, prescription needed.

Lots of Probiotics a few hours away from the antibx's.

Your DR may not write you enough Diflucan tablets for your son to take, so you

can buy over the counter Florstar but also do the probiotics now, should be 40

billion culture bacteria at least. I would stay away from yogurt, as it is

possible to have strep cultures

in it, and he does not need another issue to fight.

Your question reminded me of an article I just read this morning on cnn.com.

Please nobody get offended. I take refuge in your open-mindedness. The article

is about a woman who got a bacterial infection in her colon after taking

antibiotics. And the remedy was a fecal transplant from her mother. I am not

making this up. I told my daughter that if she ever got this infection, she can

count on me to do the same. Eewwwww!

Here is an excerpt:

Hunter's mother " donated " one of her stools for the procedure. Next, the

hospital lab carefully diluted it, and pumped the foreign fecal matter

right into Hunter's colon.

Atibiotics make yeast grow...I have the same problem, my son has major yeast simptoms after atibiotics and his groce motor skils are worse.He is on probiotics, atifungals and we are trying the Low Oxalate Diet. Son recently had 2nd ear infection (never had before) so we are on 2nd round of antibiotics (amox and now augmenton (sp?) and I'm wondering how you would counter balance the affects on his gut?

Immediately he began wetting the bed in the AM. He's 6 and hasn't wet the bed since 3.

Thoughts? Just tons of probiotics? He has a lot of yeasty behavior now but I thought antibiotics killed the yeast, too?
