RE IVIG

I am looking into IVIG for my almost 9 yr old He has done biomed 6 yrs he is

still non verbal i am looking at IVIG for him Id love to hear experiences with

IVIG good or bad It is un heard of here in ireland to treat a child with Autism

with IVIG, so i have a battle on my hands. I am unsure from my research is the

benefits are worth the fight /cost /amn puttingb him through it ..any advice

much appreciated ..Caroline

There have been mixed reports in the literature. Most if the ivig done experimentally in children with autism has been low dose. Some do really well with this. Others are dealing with a lot of inflammation and for those, high dose seems to work better. I'd check immune function and get an idea o how that's working and go from there. Also possibly have your doc heck inflammatory markers?RuthSent from my iPhone

Thanks Ruth , When you say check immune function do you mean IGG IGA ? aLSO

imflammatory markers .is this esr/ crp ? All of these markers in the past have

been within normal ranges ... He also never showed elevated viral titres ... He

is a complicated little boy..I know that he regressed post a viral illness at 14

mts ...have done viral meds for years no changes...

Yes I meant IgG Etc. have you checked for any bacterial infections? Myco pneumonia? Lyme? RuthSent from my iPhone
