Thanks Tarri, I am not sure I have enought equity built up in my house to

take another mortgage out on my house. Even if I do I dont think I can afford

to pay the payment , lol. SO that way it could be a no win situation.

Let me know how you make out

Pat,

My heart aches for you. As you are aware, I am in the process of an appeal

too. I took out a second mortgage on the house to self-pay and now I am

still fighting to get them to cover.

Ask for a copy of the medical necessity criteria that they used. I got a

copy and guess what. Even though they have said three times that I didn't

meet the criteria I DO> I had Missouri Insurance Commission review the

criteria and guess what - THEY SAID I MEET TOO and sent a letter to Premier

saying why are you denying when its clear that your own criteria is met. I

still have to go the Grievance Committee meeting in Springfield on Tuesday -

why I don't know. I will be praying for a sense of peace and patience for

you as we collectively find out what is the next step we need to take to get

you to the dance.

Oh Pat...I am so sorry! But don't give up, if ANY of us pre-ops give

up...then they will keep trying to to this to us. I expect the same fight

when I get to that stage. What kind of insurance do you have?

Hi Bonnie,

I dont know if I can take out of my retirement money. Its a deferred income

type of retirement plan. Does anyone know if that can be done. I think this

one they dont let me withdraw from until I retire. I am not sure but I can

check it out on Monday.

Hi ,

I work for the county and its called County self funded. WLS is not an

exclusion under this policy, the doctor who approves or denies them is a

jerk. I will forge on and win this battle one way or another, I just dont

want to feel any worse than I do now. The longer this takes the harder it

seems to be.

Pat..How about a your retirement? a 401-k? any possibilities there?

Check out that line one equity on your home with the bank you bank

with, I know they would love to make you

the loan if possible, that's where they make their money. Also the

payments could be nothing or very little, you would just have to pay it

off in 10 or 15 years whatever terms you set up.. Good luck Bonnie,

in N.C.

Pat,

I am so sorry for your disappointment. I wish I had some wonderful words of

encouragement, but I am at a loss. I am new into all of this and fear I am

going to be receiving the same call in the next couple of weeks. I guess all

I can say is to hang in there and stay strong. Fight them, things always

have a way of working out. I will be thinking of you. Good Luck.

You go Pat. What a great group of folks on this site, it always impresses me

so much. So much support and advice and actual help for anyone in need. I

can offer only my support, but to you and and Larice and everyone who is

fighting right now for their right to be healthy, please don't lose hope!

Whenever it gets rough, come to us and we'll carry you through. We are

hundreds strong, and can hoist you all up onto our shoulders and let you rest

while we keep heading in the right direction. Keep the faith, and eventually

your turn to dance will arrive. Love your spirit! PhillyJude MGB 11-3-00

Thanks Jude to you and all my MGB family. Thru all of you I find the strength

to continue this battle. I am trying all the avenues I can right now to

change the decision of my insurance company.

By the way I now have the eating disorder they wanted me to have, its called

a binge . LOL They said I have to have some problem or I wouldnt be fat, so

of course I now have given them this one, since they wont send me to the

looney bin for it. I told them that I try to diet and when I dont suceed as

fast as I want to I say the hell with it and make up for lost time and binge.

They really liked that answer but still didnt approve but I am not gonna give

up.

Thanks again

THANK YOU! For all of us who have been knocked down by others, be it

insurance OR nonsupport of family or friends. You and others like you in

this group are always here to encourage us to get back up, dust off our cuts

and bruises and go on with it. It's so important what you do for us and I

for one say " Thank you. "

Don't give up Pat, I know I will probably have to do the same thing. I have

not heard yet from the Insurance Company and they say no news is good news

but not in this case... There is some good advice from people who have

succeeded and please take it. I am going to. On one of the site about

gastric surgery, there is a link to lawyers that help when someone has been

denied... But for some reason I can not find it now... I will continue to

look, and maybe someone out there has seen it also... Perserverance does

prevail... I am rooting for you.
