Lilka listen to Ramona she is so wise ! I am cold alot also, i just wear warm sweaters and i often wear cute camies under all my shirts and sweaters, at work in the summer i have a blanket at my desk to ward of the a/c, now here in Vacaville it can get pretty darn hot ! I do use the a/c at home but now this season i am so much thinner i wonder how it will be..............Last week we got a whole attic fan for the house, which is an energy savings for the house and it is suppose to really help cool the house down and keep the a/c useage down, i am curious how that will be , with the " new me" Colleensweetgemlady656@... wrote: Hi Lilka, Unfortunately I guess you didn't get

into the conversations at the time when we were into the cold feet and all of that. It is just an other by product of the surgery. We had so much fat that protected us and kept us warm that now that it is going away our body thermostat goes haywire. I always have some very nice thick socks to keep my feet toasty warm and try not to ever let them get cold. It seems like once they get cold then I am cold. I can not say whether it will ever go away because I am 3 years out and I still have that problem. If my feet are warm most of the time we don't even turn on the heater even when it is cold. As for the eating don't be afraid of eating new food. Yes you are going to find that there are some things that don't agree with your new tummy and that is exactly why. It is a new tummy, It takes time. When you are trying something new always try it at home. You do have to add a little variety other wise you will get sick as you say. It is hard to eat the same thing three days

on a row. Are you doing any meal planning for yourself? You might want to try that. I know it is hard in the beginning but it will get better. Ramona

Lilka:

I'm not sure if you can eat it now. But be careful with it. I'm not

sure about you, bit it is a trigger food for some.

I always carefully measure it out so that I don't over do it. Also

try rich cheese when you're at home to test your reaction to it.

I LOVE cheese. Love, love, love it!

Hi Francisco, We had this very rich cheese here today and I

nibbled . It was sooooo divine. I was overwhelmed by the taste. Then

I did not feel so well but I ate a little piece of shredded

pastrami. I think that did not go down so well. I wonder if mixing

food is a good idea. O well. I am learning. HOw are you tonight? I

hope Steve is with you. Lilka

Hi there Lilka- I am there with you right now. I have been living

on cheese, cottage cheese, yogrut, scrambled eggs, tuna and I tried

a table spoon of mashed potatoes. I did have some white fish

tonight when we went out with friends, not bad. I know I can't eat a

lot of things but right now most stuff sure smells good.

I'm actually looking forward to this problem - for years my husband and

I have had disagreements about the temperature of the house and the

car. He thinks anything under about 75 degrees is too cool for comfort,

while I think anything over 70 degrees is just too warm. You can see

the problem! So if I become more " in sync " with his temperature sense,

everyone will be happier.

So, maybe we should plan that summer trip to Arizona and New Mexico now?

Lilka: Your ability to eat will expand with time. Right now, everything is all inflamed and puffy, because it is going through the healing process. In a way, consider it a blessing to be bored by food. This is a good opportunity to take the glamour" associated with food away...and the opportunity to think of food as fuel. Think of it in a pragmatic way. It's freeing. Now, don't be too depressed about that...things will change, and you will be able to digest better after time. But, even today, there are times when certain foods work just fine, and other times when they don't. I can usually tell after the first bite. One of the big things with beef (isn't it a bit early for you to be eating hamburger? I don't remember...) is that you have to chew chew chew...and I think that particularly with hamburgers, we ar eused to gulping them

down. So, be even more vigilent about chewing with burgers than you are about anything else. I can't remember if you can have veggies yet, but I know that the veggie stage is better if you have things very soft. I think I may have mentioned that makes homemade ratoutille for me...and it is just great on fish, chicken or even mixed with eggs. It moistens things. Here is the approximate recipe: 1 eggplant, chopped up onions, " " zucchini " " garlic cloves " " tomatoes " ' red and green bell peppers " " a little bit of chicken broth fresh thyme Herbs de Provence a splash of olive oil and a bouquet garni (you know, bay leaves that wrap up thyme, rosemary, and some other herb) salt and pepper to taste Just put it all in a big pot

and let it come to a boil. Don't add water, the veggies have plenty of water in it, and the chicken broth will help keep it moistened before that is released. Reduce, and then simmer all day, with the lid on...and then later, take the lid off. We freeze it into small portions in freezer bags, and stack them in the freezer. It is a great source of important nutrients, and putting a little bit on your meat really adds a nice flavor, and makes it easier to digest. Try it, you'll like it. Ed. I can not believe you said that. Just today with my daughter we

were talking about Jamaica. She had just come back. She said it was

90% there and I said I can never go. Then I remembered that I no

longer weigh 292 and I will be thin. I threw my head back in utter

amazement as I realized I may be able to go to Jamaica myself some

day. Lilka

Hi. Thank you sooo much for the recipe and the advice. When I get

the hamburger, I ask the butcher to run it through the grinder one

more time. Now it is groud even finer. But, you are right, I can

only eat a few bites. As I wrote to Barbara, I am not sure when I am

full so ZIZ stop if I have any pain at all. If I have pain, I

immediately lose my appetite and that is that until the next meal. I

also grind and grind it in my mouth. I will eat more fish, I

promise. Love, Lilka

PS I am printing out your recipe. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the advice and recipe Robynn. I'm sure it will help some of us pre ops. SassyRobynn VanPatten wrote: Lilka: Your ability to eat will expand with time. But, even today, there are times when certain foods work just fine, and other times when they

don't. I can usually tell after the first bite. One of the big things with beef (isn't it a bit early for you to be eating hamburger? I don't remember...) is that you have to chew chew chew...and I think that particularly with hamburgers, we ar eused to gulping them down. Here is the approximate recipe: 1 eggplant, chopped up onions, " " zucchini " " garlic cloves " " tomatoes " ' red and green bell peppers " " a little bit

of chicken broth fresh thyme Herbs de Provence a splash of olive oil and a bouquet garni (you know, bay leaves that wrap up thyme, rosemary, and some other herb) salt and pepper to taste Just put it all in a big pot and let it come to a boil. The thing that has helped me the most is wearing tee shirts under all my clothes now. I buy the three packs of tank top tee shirts at Target or Kmart and wear them every day. They are thin enough that they don't add bulk, but since they are cotton, the added layer really makes a difference. I dress business casual/professional every day for work, and it doesn't show at all. I live in the Sacramento area, and this is the first year I'm actually looking forward to the summer heat :)As far as food, are you able to tolerate scrambled eggs yet? I had pretty good luck scrambling an egg white with a bit of cheese.Good
