Guest guest
Hi Pam, That's so NOT true! I just received an email from a woman who was on this list years ago until ran her off. It was a big loss when she left, because she was the source of so much information that was vitally important to my child. She introduced me to the digestive enzymes that enabled my son to finally get potty trained. This mean spirited closed-mindedness is not a new thing, and I am getting almost daily emails from people dropping off the board because they can't take the attacks on others anymore. More than one has cited Janice as a source of wonderful information. Many are asking for advice on which boards are more welcoming to all ideas and have a focus on communication. There is only one common element to the attacks, and her name is not Janice!!! in NJ > > > > .... to be flip.... Guest guest
We have also found success in swinging and spinning, actually just found a new spin toy that accomodates kids up to 125 pounds and works really well. might want to check it out at www.gymspin.biz you can either spin child yourself or due to the way it is built it is also self propelling and my son at 8 is 105# and he enjoys it as he long ago outgrew the traditional spin toy. gabriele (i have no ties to this company only a puchaser of the product)
Guest guest
You read my mind! I'm going to post something about spinning later today on my new blog. in NJ > > OT just told me that kids who have poor visual processing, appear to > benefit from a " spinning " protocol. Guest guest
That is a definite possibility. The vestibular system controls the ocular system, and the key to the movement is that it is not consistent. That is the definition of a roller coaster: slow, fast, up, down, sideways, upside down. in NJ > > > > OT just told me that kids who have poor visual processing, appear to > > benefit from a " spinning " protocol. Guest guest
Listening Therapy also addresses the vestibular system and how it along with the ear components are all connected and affect speech, spatial issues, focus/attention to name just a few issues. I'm on my second week of Listening Therapy and my son has never ask this many ?s. His inquistveness has never been this high! To top it, he loves going to Listening Therapy which is 3x a week 1hr & 20 mins in duration.
Guest guest
Thanks ...teaching how to swallow would be tough..I had to get his antibiotic medication in a chewable and it was torture to have to give it to him 2x a day for 10 days..swallowing would be probably close to impossible right now. I'll have to come up with a way to hide it. He only eats but only a few things. Thanks for the suggestion.

Guest guest
Myra, The way we administer our suppliments is through a syrenge. We use the ones from the pharmacy and draw up the liquid or pierce the suppliment and put it on a spoon and draw up off of the spoon. (give more since you are loosing some along the way). Then we draw up some juice/diluted with water and he takes it fine. Hope this helps! We use the ones from the pharmacy and draw up the liquid or pierce the suppliment and put it on a spoon and draw up off of the spoon. (give more since you are loosing some along the way). Then we draw up some juice/diluted with water and he takes it fine. Hope this helps! Colleen Mother of Charlie 2.5 years Re: [ ] Re: swinging question/vestibular system , You are the pro at this since Mark has been devouring pills forever and I have no experience at hiding or disguising. [sPAM][ ] Re: swinging question/vestibular system here, not Janice, but we use enzymes, too. I could never hide them in food. We used chewables for a long time, and now he swallows the capsules with no problem. We use TriEnza, and the capsules are pretty small. Can you teach him how to swallow them? If not, there is information on hiding them in chocolate wafers on either www.enzymestuff.com or www.danasview.net. Good luck! Guest guest
Yes!!! OK I'll start. I notice that when Tanner writes things that his thoughts are there but his spelling (which he is amazing at in isolation) and his syntax break down in writing longer sentences. It's very odd because it's almost like he talks better than he writes -unless I have him break it down. Tanner had a girlfriend in first and second grade who moved out of state so they email each other...and as well as he talks I have to work with him on some pretty basic stuff in writing emails. It's almost like the apraxia that was verbal is there in some way. But again once you break it down to one sentence at a time -he aces it. You or anyone notice this? At least today I can talk to him about it and tell him to use the same strategies that worked for him with speech when he writes. For those that don't know Tanner is 11 -5th grade mainstream. =====
