honoring playwright, actor, director Valdez

with a special performance by El Teatro Campesino

introduced by Dolores Huerta, with Rep. Berman

Monday evening, July 10, 2006, 6:30 pm to 9 pm

during the National Council of La Raza national conference

Reception is at the new headquarters of The California Endowment

Valdez founded and is artistic director of Teatro Campesino,

collaborated with Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta in the fields to

support striking workers and build the United Farm Workers, is the

director of such films as " La Bamba, " and the author of such

award-winning plays and screen plays as Zoot Suit, as well as

several books.
