Guest guest
Hi , I was already on the injection shot MTX 15 mgs. I was staying nauseated from day one until the day before the next one. I had been on it 9 weeks, my quality of life was horrible. When My Husband gave me the shot that night in my thigh, I had been getting it in my arm. I know this doesn't really make a difference but almost immediately my face flushed, I was itching all over my body and having difficulty breathing. This was Thanksgiving weekend and I knew I wouldn't reach my doctor. So I took large doses of benadryl and used my inhaler for the wheezing in my chest. I also had an injection shot I could have taken if things got worse. I keep an anaphylaxis emergency treatment kit with me at all times due to many allergies I have, parts of it came in handy that night or we would have ended up in the ER, where they don't know a hoot about RP. After a while I got okay. I called the doctor and told him Monday what happened and he told me not to take it anymore. That next time it could be really harmful for me. I know now I should have spoken up in the first place when I was having so much trouble staying well thru the week on the metho. I think you know when a drug just isn't right for you. He put me on Imuran, my quality of life is sooo much better. The only thing it does is cause you to be a bit fatigued. I'm hoping that will go away. but hey its better than the metho. I hope none of this scares you, I'm only trying to tell you what happened to me. You take care and keep me informed. By the way, do you want to participate in Dr. Buckner's research? It will cost you nothing, she will send the kit to you and its prepaid to send it back. If you want to let me know I am making a list from our group for her. Thanks! Love, Lu Lu, how did the allergy from MTX manifest itself? > My dr set up a schedule for me to increase my MTX > (I'm up to 15mg this week) and she said if I > started to feel good (RP symptoms) but felt > nauseous, that I should call her.
