Guest guest
, We would be happy to help you with the theoretical framework for the Promotor(a) model. In fact, Migrant Health Promotion is funded to do just that. We have been working with migrant farmworker Promotor(a) programs for over twenty years. In addition to the framework, we often assist Migrant and Community Health Centers with Promotor(a) program development, grant seeking, program implementation and evaluation. Feel free to contact me directly and we can talk more about how we can help. My best, Kim Kratz Executive Director Migrant Health Promotion 734-944-0244 P.S. I have attached a copy of our most recent publication which is an overview of the current issues in the Promotora program field. You can also check out our web site at www.migrant health.org -----Original Message-----From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of o AstorgaSent: Monday, February 06, 2006 1:33 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Promotoras Theoretical Framework Hello Everybody, I am writing to you to request references to the following: Theoretical framework of the promotora's model (background, studies, etc) I apprecciate what ever you can do to help me. Guest guest
Kim, Try not forget the pterygium information. We need to get the word out. Pterygium is at epidemic levels among Hispanic farm workers and no one is addressing this. I called your office but no one answered. My number is (707) 464-7441 ext 292 Sincerely, Rene Quintana ALMA Del Norte -----Original Message----- From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of Alayne Unterberger Sent: Thursday, February 09, 2006 3:29 PM ; Gomez Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Promotoras Theoretical Framework this is great information --- we are going to use it in our One Goal, Many Voices Program. Guest guest
Dear o, The Exec. Director of Vision y Compromiso, Lemus, runs the Community Health Workers/Promotora Network in California. She works with organizations to set up Promotora programs. She might be helpful to you, too. The last number I found for her was: (510)232-7869 and chwpromotoras@.... I hope these are still current. Narda -------------- Original message -------------- From: "Amy K. Liebman" <aliebman@...> A few years back, I wrote an article, “Popular Education and Pesticide Knowledge” for Streamline, Migrant Clinicians Network’s bimonthly publication. You may find it useful in your search for a theoretical framework as I list the some of the theorists who contributed to popular education. http://www.migrantclinician.org/news/streamline/20021112_mcn_streamline.pdf Also, you may find this recent study useful. “Evaluation of Salud Para Su Corazón (Health for Your Heart) — National Council of La Raza Promotora Outreach Program” in July 2005, Preventing Chronic Disease, Public Health Research and Policy Amy K.
