Guest guest Posted August 28, 2006 Report Share Posted August 28, 2006 Here is the corrected job announcement: JOB OPENING: MIGRANT HEALTH SPECIALIST/RESEARCH ANALYST Farmworker Justice (FJ), a creative, national non-profit advocacy and education group for migrant and seasonal farmworkers, based in Washington D.C. is seeking a Migrant Health Specialist/Research Analyst to work on an occupational and environmental health project. The Migrant Health Specialist/Research Analyst will provide capacity-building and technical assistance to migrant health centers and other community-based organizations that serve migrant and seasonal farmworkers. The Migrant Specialist will: Research and write several in-depth reports and an e-newsletter concerning research and regulatory developments on occupational and environmental health issues affecting migrant and seasonal farmworkers; Speak at conferences on migrant health topics; Conduct training workshops for migrant health centers, community-based organizations or lay health educators; Maintain a database of research articles; Provide technical assistance to migrant clinics or other community-based organizations This job will also require the successful candidate to develop and maintain on-going relationships with community-based organizations (CBOs), translate research findings into practice suggestions, analyze data, track requests for assistance on an electronic database, etc. The Migrant Health Specialist/Research Analyst will work in collaboration with other members of the health staff at FJ and with staff from the Migrant Clinicians Network. Qualifications: - Fluency in Spanish as well as English is preferred; - Master’s of Public Health or equivalent degree is required; - Minimum of 2 years experience in health research or education is preferred; - Excellent research, written and oral communication skills are required; - Must be willing to travel out of town frequently, often on weekends; - Must be able to work independently, collaborate with a team and work well with diverse populations; - Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite is required; knowledge of statistical software is preferred; - Knowledge of statistics is required Farmworker Justice is an equal opportunity employer.
