Guest guest
Given what we know of the migrant worker population, at least the Hispanic segment, it seems that their usual work schedule wouldn't allow them much time to get on the internet, if they were at the literacy level to be able to take advantage of such things. It's really a luxury to be able to spend time on the internet. Before spending time and resources on creating an online health education site for migrant workers, a person would want to research a number of issues, including the following: 1. literacy levels in the target population 2. maybe do some widespread focus groups to determine awareness levels of the "internet existance" 3. survey migrant workers' knowledge of computersand their experience in using them 4. survey migrant workers about where they, themselves, would most likely turn for health information 5. find out which resources for health education are presently the most popular & /or most successful You may find that the answers to the above vary from one ethnic group to another. You may find that resources would best be used to support the existing health ed. projects to enhance or expand their capabilities. With little enough resources available, all of us want to use them as efficiently as possible. Good luck to our surgeon inquirer and best wishes. N. Guest guest
Excellent point Tolentino. We really need to get the brilliant minds in research out in the fields and dig into the dirt from sun up to sun down. Hey you guys we love you but you researchers need to get out in the fields. Are any of you game? Bring a pair of gloves and a good pair of sunglasses. Sincerely, Rene Quintana ALMA Del Norte -----Original Message----- From: [mailto: ]On Behalf Of nardat@...
