Guest guest
This is a new concern of mine as well! Keigan grinds the only teeth he has...his front 4! It drives me crazy plus I know it's not good on his teeth. Our doc reccomened we see a pediatric dentist because he really didn't know what to do. I don't know about long term solutions or how well your child eats but mine usually stops when I give him something such as a craker. > > > Date: 2004/01/20 Tue PM 03:47:13 EST > To: RSS-Support > Subject: Teeth grinding > > Mommy to Keigan 4-15-03 (RSS) and Tristian 9-26-
Guest guest
Hi:-) Typically, you do not do anything for children who grind their teeth because treatment is usually a night guard. It is difficult to get them to wear them and their mouth is growing so you do not want to restrict their teeth as the jaws grow. Make sense? Guest guest
When my son was somewhere between 2-5 years old, he did grind his teeth (he is 10 now). I never thought this was related to RSS or anything else wrong with him, I just figured it was a bad habit at the time. Since so many have responded that their children are teeth grinders, I thought I'd throw this question out there... Over the years, has traded one bad habit for another. Most of the habits he has had fall into the obsessive compulsive disorder spectrum (OCD), and we attributed them to anxiety. Has anyone's children ever displayed the following: hair pulling (trychotillomania - sp?), pulling fingernails off, picking his skin, slurping or lip smacking. did all of these things after the teeth grinding stage, but he usually only has one bad habit at a time. The most consistent bad habit he has had is the hair pulling. He goes through stages in which he doesn't touch his hair, and then will all of a sudden have a bald spot on his head. He has been doing the hair pulling since the age of 4. By the way, the teeth grinding stopped on its own. Kim (mom to , RSS, 10, , 3, and baby girl to be in 5 weeks!)
