We are finally on Miralax after 3 1/2 weeks on Milk of Magnesia. Please share

with me

how some of you give your kids Miralax. My daughter simply doesn't drink enough

juice...and she spit it out when I put it in her water. I have been putting it

in her milk...1

tsp, twice a day...she is about 27 lbs. The doc said OK...but the company said

it hasn't

tested it in milk so they could not recommend this. I read that it takes two to

four days to

work...we are on day four, still no BM...but fingers crossed. Of course, by now

my

daughter is holding it in because she is afraid it will hurt.

Help!

Thanks!

You can mix Miralax in with anything, including applesauce, but your

daughter has to drink at least 4 oz. during the day to make sure

there is enough hydration for it to work. According to our GI, when

she does finally go to the bathroom, it will be more like " mud " and

will not hurt. There should be no cramping at all. Max was afraid

to go after his g-j tube surgery, but after 5 or 6 days of Miralax,

it finally kicked in and there was no problem.

Also, it is better to give the Miralax at one sitting. It is more

effective that way.

Eventually, no matter how hard your daughter tries, she will not be

able to fight the urge and it will just come out freely.
