up date on my fundraising(Very Long, sorry)

Hi all its Kim T from the uk, well i just thought i'd update you all on my

fundraising efforts in order for me to get to Chicago.

One of the two newspapers on the island have backed my campaign and are

publicising me and i've been in the paper twice now.

I'm having a tabletop(indoor yard sale) on Sat 17th April and many people have

offered support and help.My parents next door neighbour is a childminder and she

has offered to do faicepainting and donate all the proceeds to me. I have also

written many letters to local businesses and uk tv companies and radio stations

and many have already responded with donated items for me to hold a silent

auction.

The man that won last years UK bigbrother lives on Orkney and he is also doing a

fundraising event for me so that was in the paper. And attracting alot of

publicity.

The nmost exciting/nervewracking news is that i got a phone call before the

weekend from the regional tv channel n( they cover the Highlands and Island of

Scotland ) and a woman from the news programme called me and said she'd heard

from the PR dept about me and they want to cover my story and my efforts in

getting to Chicago and the benefits for me to meet other RSS adults. I'm still

thinking about whether to do the show as i didn't expect that level of publicity

and i'm a bit nervous about my story and my life being shown to half of

Scotland, but at least its raising awareness of RSS and " MAGIC " etc, as i'm only

one of about 4 adults with RSS in the UK maybe more people will discover they

have it too or get in touch with the Child Growth Foundation(UK version on

MAGIC)

Well sorry my email Soooooo long but i just needed to tell you all and maybe get

some feedback on what to do and say if I go on the TV show.

Hey Kim!!!

Good luck with your fundraising< i hope all will go well!! And as

far as the TV I would go for it!!! Just by doing my newspaper

article I have found someone that i didnt even know had an RSS child

and she lives 5min from me!! Also I got a call from a woman who was

told her child possibly had RSS and she want more info and to see my

son. I have emailed The Montel Show and Oprah Show about doing a

show on our kids an havent heard anything yet, but if we get the

chance we will do it!! Good luck!! And cant wait to meet you in

Chicago!!
