As you may or may not know, we are battling the insurance company

for payment of Peptamen, Jr. - a cost of $400/week for us. They

refused to pay any of it! They have also refused to pay for Max's

ght.

Because there is legislation in NJ to have insurance companies pay

for enteral feedings and because I know that ght is approved by the

FDA for RSS/SGA kids, I went to our Assemblyman and Senator for

help. I had to fax over the denial of insurance and proof that our

old insurance used to pay for this stuff. They have their aides now

going to the NJ Commissioner of Banking and Insurance to get us

covered. They were more than happy to help.

I never knew that these people would be so interested in helping

us. Max is only one child and I did not think they would take on

his case, but they have with flying colors. Perhaps that will work

where you live?

We are also fortunate that Dr. H. just gave us a whole bunch of gh

that another patient is no longer using. That will tide us over for

awhile until the ght mess is straightened out. But I also know that

you can contact the drug company and they may help you out, too.

Let me know if I can help you any further. Oh - Dianne, at MAGIC,

is the new insurance guru. I have to admit that she was not much of

a help for me, but maybe she can advise you. It's worth a try.

We just started genotropin and have a 45% copay. However, we've also got a

$1000 maximum out-of-pocket on prescriptions so when we reach that amount

(which will be very quickly with the cost of genotropin!) they will pay

100%. Maybe your plan has something like that, too.

Sherri-

Gosh I feel bad even complaining about my 30% when you have to pay

45%. We don't have an out of pocket max for prescriptions but do

with the major medical. Thanks for the advice though! Good luck

Hi !!

We use genotropin as well (and I am praying that this July my

husband's job doesnt change insurance, since they have every year

since he's been there. ours is covered 100% right now with no co-

pay). I dont know if it pays for gh or if you would quailify, but

maybe you could look into medicaid. We have it as a sencondary

insurance (we got it when he started getting ssi). It might be

something to look into. Good luck!!
