Guest guest
You want that tube to be stable. One of the reasons that granulation tissue forms is because of all the movement and irritation. When you have the button placed in January, it will not hurt, but it will be a chance to clean everything up and make it look better. Guest guest
Hi Dayna- Pippin didn't have her tube placed in NY but whenever we have a problem w/ the site I just take her to her ped. I even went there when I had to change the Mickey-button for the first time. I just wanted to know a " pro " was behind me just in case. Once her site didn't look so good, pinking up and they gave me an rx for bactroban (sp)...we know use this 2-4 times per week around the site. She has no problems with it or granultaion tissue. > Speaking of turning the button. I noticed tonight when I put Alyssa to bed while I was cleaning her site that she seemed to have some pain when I turned the stabilizer. She still has the long tube and won't get her button until January. Her granulation tissue is getting better, but tonight it was a whiteish color in 2 places instead of the previous deep pink color. Anyone had any experience with this?? Since we had the surgery in NY there isn't really any one doctor here to see about her site. Who do other's see when they've had the surgery in NY? > > THANKS!! > > Dayna, MOm to ALyssa > > >
Guest guest
Hey Dayna, We've never had any problems with granulation tissue with (knock on wood and make sure it's real! LOL) Since the placement of his tube in Sept 02, and the change over to the button 6 weeks later, we have always used the same cleaning protocol we learned in NY. He gets his bath, we dry the site, swab the area with a 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide/sterile what. Let this dry, then add a dollop of triple antibiotic, or bacitracin, or neosporin, and move the button around for all-over coverage. Then place the 2x2 around the button, and tape. I just make sure that any time the 2x2 gets moist, I replace it. On bad days when his stoma is leaking, I can replace it 4-5 times a day. His stoma seems to leak whenever he's not feeling well. I don't know if this is from extra pressure or what. Hope this helps Pat (g-ma to , RSS, 23 months, 20# 5.2oz, 29 " , Prevacid, Zantac, Singulair, GT)
