Guest guest Posted June 28, 2004 Report Share Posted June 28, 2004 Theraputic riding is great! We are in Alabama and have to wait before it gets cooler for to do it. We have seen first hand the benefits of this with others in our area. When we toured the stables Leigh Meyer who works with the kids gave me an article about a child who has mito and how it really helped him. I am sure she will be glad to share all the ins and outs of the therapy with you. A group of us parents who are working with Children's Rehab services ( a state agency) applied for a grant to send Leigh for 6 or 8 weeks to Texas to train to do this. (Can't remember) She has her own stables and horses and is super with the kids. She took her hores over to a summer camp for two weeks at the begining of this summer to work with the kids at camp smiles. I will give you her contact info and let her know I have shared about her with those on this list. She will be happy to hear from anyone here and help you in any way she can. She also had no idea that when she was brushing the horses she was using all those arm muscles! We have only ben one time to see what it was like but intend to do all of it when it gets cooler!
