Guest guest
I was wondering something...Joey and his ten year old brother has always had the night sweats. They would be soaked from head to toe the instant they would fall asleep. To wear we have to wash sheets and pillow case EVERYNIGHT. What could this be caused from? My ten year old has not yet been dx. but we are very suspecous. Does any of your Mito babies do this. Someone told me it could be there sugar levels yet we have checked that and it seems to be fine. Any ideas would be GREEEEEAT!!!! Thanks again!!!! Guest guest
Gracie has night sweats due to her low blood sugar. I see you have had there BS checked, but was it fasting, or during the night? Grace has always been low, but it used to only be a problem at night when she was not eating. She would commonly wake up soaking wet and very crabby and shaky. Within a half an hour of her eating she would be fine again. I would definatly ask your pediatrician for a fasting BS. This can progress into a more chronic condition later on, as it has with Grace. There are alot of easy things you can do to help them with this if it is low blood sugar. If your pediatrician is against testing them again, try giving them a bedtime snack high in complex carbs (Dr.Cohen suggests any type of nut, or chunky peanut butter). The complex carbs take a long time to metabolize, so they help sustain the BS through the night. If the problem goes away that night, you may know what you need to do every night. Best wishes. Guest guest
Tamara, I know that has night sweats and I can only assume it is the dysautonomia. I too have them periodically. I will wake up completely soaked. I thought at one time it was my thyorid (I was hyperthyroid d/t a tumor). I had the tumor removed and still had them. Then I assumed it was hormones. Well, I had a hysterectomy and my ovaries are gone too, and I still have them. I think it is my body trying to shut down after going all day. I notice it more with if she is really exhausted! If their sugars seem to be okay then I wouldn't worry too much. Is it a couple of hours after eating? My endo told me that when the food leaves the stomach that some people get low blood pressure and sweats. Feels like hypoglycemia but isn't. Might be this? Have you checked their BP at night? My BP gets so low at night it won't even register on my automatic BP cuff. Hope this helps. Maybe others will have some other suggestions! Guest guest
We have always dealt with this to varying degrees, and it is somewhat autonomic, for Will at least, but we were told it probably relates to the breathing problems he has too. Night sweating I have been told can be a sign of sleep apnea. We are seeing a big flair in this on Will right now but I think it is because of everything else going on too. Will get so bad at times you can wring his pillow out, it's pretty gross. Not sure what to tell you that might help, we sure haven't found anything yet.
