Guest guest
I was just wondering what is the purpose of the soft chew diet and what specifically can you or can you not eat? I am 15 days post op and i'm now allowed to eat soft foods (yaaay) but im having trouble distinguishing what things are " soft " . I mean i can understand the surgons not wanting us to eat beef jerky, raw carrots or wanting us to bite into apples. Would pizza be considered a soft food? (which by the way i have been having wicked cravings for). Before I had my surgery my bite was so bad i could only chew with my back teeth and even that was not very effective, so i know how to eat without chewing. I sort of just used the roof of my mouth. Would ripping up small pieces of pizza and swallowing them without chewing be detrimental to my health at this point in time?
Guest guest
I am 1 month post op and I had my 1st pizza last night. I use a knife and fork and scrape/cut off the toppings and eat that. I just don't eat the crust. > I was just wondering what is the purpose of the soft chew diet and > what specifically can you or can you not eat? Guest guest
I would ask your OS. I am sure everyone's case is different. I am glad I am not the only one having serious pizza withdrawls, though! Luke
Guest guest
You used a knife and fork? I tore up slice of pizza with my fingers at three or four weeks. First the cheese which I ever so softly and slowly chewed with my back teeth. And then I started tearing up the softest parts of the crust. I couldnt open my mouth that much, or even use my tongue much, but I managed to eat that pizza. You'd be suprised how quickly bits of the bottom crust will soften just from being in your mouth. Fold a small flat piece of crust in half, let it soften in your mouth a big, then gently gently chew it. Stay away from the outer rim crust or Sicilian though. > > I was just wondering what is the purpose of the soft chew diet and > > what specifically can you or can you not eat?
