Guest guest
Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday! My countdown to surgery is 18 days, and i have a few questions about surgery. First, where did everyone have their IV inserted. On the wrist, in the arm...where? I hate IV's, so I think knowing what to expect will be the best things for me. The second thing is, did anyone happen to " awaken " during surgery? I know it is very rare, but I feel that the more informed I am about this, the less scared I will be in the rare instance that it does happen. And lastly, last night, I attended a surgery preparation program called the Freeman Preparation Method. It was started by a lady in Lincoln, Nebraska..and it is absolutely amazing. The research she has done on the brain waves before during and after anesthesia is so amazing, and the things she has taught me will for sure make my surgery a huge success. If you have any questions, or want any contact information, just let me know. I would 100% reccommend it. It is only $10 to attend a session, and that money is so you can receive a CD that you listen to in the weeks leading up to surgery, and then actually when you are under anesthesia. The results have been amazing. Just let me know!
Guest guest
Hi - My IV was inserted in my left arm. Either I had a really great anesthesiologist or I am just very compatible with it, because everything went very smoothly, with no nausea and no (yikes) waking up during surgery. Guest guest
My IV was in my left hand and i did not wake up during surgery but i have a friend who had this surgery who did wake up for a split second but was put directly back under. She says all she saw was a really bright light which was the light in the surgery room. > Hey everyone! > I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday! Guest guest
My IV was in my left hand, on top of the hand. It pinched every so slightly going in (I'm needle phobic so I warned them in advance to go easy with me). Just as I felt that, the anaesthesiologist sprayed some yucky stuff up my nostrils, and as I was complaining (mildly) about the taste of that, I went to sleep and woke up about 2 seconds later in recovery. I used a collection of surgical support tapes (6 in all, for different stages of prep/surgery/recovery/post-op) pre/during/post-op from The Monroe Institute http://www.hemisync.com after my mother had successfully used them for two major operations (she required no pain meds). They have done a lot of groundbreaking research into brain waves as well, and have a whole series of different tapes for different applications. These surgical tapes are not inexpensive, but they worked so well, we have both made them a part of our home first aid kit. I'd suggest you check with your surgeon and anaesthesiologist before your surgery, to make sure they are ok with it. You'll also want to use earbud type headphones as the anaesthesiologist works around the head and you don't want things getting in his/her or the surgeon's way. My surgeon and anesthesiologist were both ok with it, but the hospital and OR nurses gave me a bit of a hard time " that cassette player didn't take a shower with you this morning " . In the end, they agreed, and even changed the tape after the surgery was over (from Intra-Op to Recovery tape). The resident surgeon said I'd had the quickest recovery he'd ever seen for anyone having the type of surgery I'd had (upper/lower/genio), and he was convinced the tapes had made all the difference. If I did awaken during surgery, I was so calm I probably said " you're doing a great job, carry on! " and went back to sleep. Best of luck with your surgery prep! > Hey everyone! > I hope you all are having a wonderful Friday! My countdown to surgery is 18 > days, and i have a few questions about surgery.
