Guest guest
Well I spend most of the night last night reading the page on obesityhelp.com about the memorials. I started this journey with the attitude that I live by. When its my time to go its my time to go so I live each day to its fullest. My husband was concerned at first about the risks involved in the surgery but he knows my beliefs and he himself believes the same way. Up until now I hadnt read the memorials page because I didnt want to scare myself. But last night I decided that I needed to read them. I have always lived by the same rule about when its my time its my time but I have never been faced with this type of RISK! Even thought I face it UNKNOWINGLY every day this time I actually have a choice..LOL I figure that at this point (less than 2 weeks from surgery 11/17) if there was anything else left that might change my mind or scare me would be the memorials page. My husband didnt want me to read them. But once he fell asleep i did. I felt it was something I had to do. Well I was right. It did scare the heck out of me. But not enough to change my mind. I read EVERY one of them and after I was done I still felt the same way about the surgery and my beliefs. So now I am OFFICIALLY ready for my surgery. So I have a few questions! 1.) I know that some of our supplements and vitamins cant be taken together! So how do you guys take yours? I know that most need to be taken with food from what I understand. I will be taking the Bariatric Advantage Supplements! The Multi Vitamin, Calcium and B12. 2.) For anyone out there who weighed close to 360 Pds what did you set as a goal? I am 5'9 and 365 pounds. I haven't done that yet because to me anything less is better but my dr says its very important I set an exact goal or at least a mini goal to work toward. 3.) I plan to discuss this with my surgeon on 11/11 when I go for post Op but what are the deciding factors between dis. and prox?? 4.)At what point did you start doing more excercise than walking? Im trying to figure out how I can work in a visit to the gym once I make it that far. I am a stay at home mom but i also babysit a little girl the same age as my daughter and the local gym has no daycare or anything. Nor is there anywhere I can leave them for me to go. I live 30 min from the closest gym and I wouldnt be able to go till like 9pm and I hate to go that late by myself..LOL SOOO im stressing trying to figure it out..LOL Wish I would win the Louisiana Lottery then I could open my on..LOL 5.) I am scheduled for Lap RNY on 11/17. My husband can only take off work the day of my surgery. The dr says I will be in the hosptial until wednesday afternoon or thursday morning at the latest as long as their are no complications or anything. I have someone to watch my daughter the whole 1st week but should I stay at my moms so that I am not home alone all day? I have never had anything done lap. The only real surgery i have ever had was a csection with my daughter and that was HORRIBLE!!! Thanks to being over 300 pds! I know each person is different and circumstances vary but I figure you guys and gals could give me a good idea. Thanks in advance and congrats and good luck to all of you. They have different flavors and its like a treat. I have the Chocolate Mint and it tastes really good. Then for the Mulitvitiam I am taking a Chewable. So far so good. But its only been a week. Guest guest
hi crystal. wtg on doing your research & making an informed decision. my answer to question #2: definitely, i set all kinds of goals, mini goals, megagoals, daily goals, your doc's advice sounds reasonable. my goal was a " normal " BMI. #3 some docs reserve distal procedures for superMO's. so they absorb less calories, but remember they'll absorb less precious NUTRIENTS @ the same time. #4 started working out @ the gym @ 3 weeks out doing cardio & @ 6 weeks with light weights. #5 with my lap procedure, i was pretty out of it & a giant whiney baby for 5 days, lol. hope this helps. lori h. 18 grateful months out > 2.) Guest guest
The only one I can respond to is #5. If your mom is supportive and can help you and watch your daughter I would try to stay there for a few days. You are going to be either in pain or having discomfort and you will be tired and wanting to sleep quite a bit. I don't know how old your daughter is but if she is under 5 I would say for a few days you will need some help. Candi My night! Guest guest
You know it really depends on you. I have heard people say they really didn't but I definitely did. My hubby was home with me for three weeks. He could have gone back sooner and had intended to actually, but I got sick and at day 10 ended up going back in the hospital. So he stayed home until I was back from the second stay in the hospital. Candi Re: My night! My daughter will be 3 on Dec 21st. Even if i dont stay at her house she is gonna keep my daughter.
