Guest guest
The orthodontist you will probably frown on popcorn, beef jerky, Doritos, gum, certain pizzas, (my orthodontist told me to cut up my pizza into small pieces), fruit that you bite into, (cut that up also), or anything that will stick or have your braces come off. The orthodontist you will give you a list when they are put on. Good Luck...
Guest guest
Hello everyone. I'm getting my braces put on next Monday (5/10/04) and have a question...what CAN/DID you eat when you had braces? The plan is to have the braces for one year and then have the lower jaw surgery. I'm not looking forward to the braces. I had them about 12 years ago (when I was in 4th/5th grade) and don't remember much about having them.
Guest guest
Jeremey, It depends on who you ask as to the answer to this question. Your orthodontist will give you a list of prohibited foods. These include anything sticky that will pull, break, or otherwise damage the wires adn brackets. But, if you ask my daughters, they eat everything, including carmel, peanuts, popcorn, Doritos, Fritos, etc. The only thing I seem to have a problem with on the prohibited list is corn on the cob. I have got every piece of food I wanted so far (nuts, candies, etc.), but the one time I tried Smarties, I broke a hook. The ortho looked at me and asked what I ate to get to break (instead of simply get loose)... ;-) Ray
