But I have a question that's really bothering me.... I'm on a few lists and I'm hearing about people getting off track and gaining weight back. They are really struggling to keep their weight downa nd loose more. Just how common is this? If your pouch is so small, how is it even possible? As an emotional eater, it scares me to think that I will be able to consume a lot of calories at some point. How do you keep yourselves in check? Thanks! , What some people forget is this surgery is not a miracle cure. It is a tool that has to be used accordingly. If you continue to eat...well the weight will return. I know a woman like that myself. She went through all the pain of surgery and healing, got pregnant, gained over a hundred pounds and is still fighting to get it off. You also need to remember there is a " window " that you will lose the most weight in. You cannot let food rule your life. When you feel you are going to eat, then call someone, pick up a book, go for a walk, get a hobbie you enjoy, ride a bike, do anything but put that food in your mouth! We are human and we will falter but we have to get back up and get back on course. If it is something you think you just have to have...chew it and spit it out. I know alot of people have different opinions about this but this is the one that I go by. You just have to remember...ITS A TOOL. Wolfie Leeds, Alabama Lap RNY August 27,2003 Dr. Lee A. Guest guest
what i was told by my wls surgeon and from my support group is that you can expand your pouch by drinking caffeine you know soda's and other carbonated beverages. also if you eat and drink at the same time that will cause you to eat more, this is the way it explained to me imagine a dixie cup with a pin hole in it (that is our stomach) now if you put some mashed potatoes in that cup it will sit there for a while before it stars to go through the hole, but if you take a cup of water and pour it in there then the potatoes will get runny and go right through and then the cup (our stomach) will be empty and you will want to fill it up again. that is why my wls not drinking anything until at least 1/2 hour after you've eaten, i have heard others say differently but after i given that analogy then it made since to me. nora pre op 10-28-03 michigan williams2614@...
