I think a ten and a half ounce bottle was like $13.95 but I have been using it since I got back from the hospital. I, like you, am diligent with my protein, plus I take a hair supplement. The Nioxin is specifically for the hair loss. A friend in another support group had mentioned it and said it worked for her. It does seem to work. I understand that the hair loss with surgery is genetic. Hello I havent heard that hair loss with surgery is genetic. I am almost 5 months post op and my hair loss just started. I have had other major surgeries before and never experienced any hair loss at all. My surgeon told me that it has to do with the lack of nutrition we are getting as RNY post ops and that it just takes several months for it to manifest itself. Guest guest
I was told the hair loss happens at 3 months, but I am also about 13 or 14 weeks out and have not experienced it either (knocking on wood). Guest guest
, I'd like to say that at 16 weeks out, I'm experiencing major hair loss. And unfortunately, hair loss with weight loss surgery is not genetic. I would say that about 85% of all people who have this surgery experience hair loss at some point. The good side is that my surgeon says that it also means that the hair every where else grows back slower. No more shaving every two days!!! Yipee!! If you don't experience any hair loss, count your lucky stars. It's not fun. Lap RNY 6/20/03 Houston, Dr. Adam Naaman Hair Loss Hi, I am 13 weeks post op & have had very little if any hair loss. Guest guest
what i was told when i went to the nutrition class and by my support group that the hair loss is due to lack of protein and that if you get the adequate amount of protein that you will not have a problem with hair loss. also at the nutrition class that i had to attend i was told that it takes about 3 months to get your hair back on track so if you start to experience hair loss and then start get more protein in your system you will still lose hair for about 3 months before it will stop. that is one of the reasons they really push protein nora pre-op 10-28-03 Michigan williams2614@... Guest guest
Hi Wolfie, Can you share with us the hair supplement you're taking? I bought the Nixon shampoo, but haven't started using it. I don't know what I was thinking about when to start using it. No, I haven't noticed any hair loss yet, and I'm 12 weeks out. Thanks! Beth It is made by Calif/Natural. I bought it at Wal-Mart. It is a high potency vitamin and mineral supplement. It has " HAIR " on the front of the bottle. And your very welcome!
