My son always gets eczema with die-off. Are you seeing anything else that might

indicate die-off?

Elijah 3, ASD (quickly loosing the label), leaky-gut

a 2 this month

SCD almost 4 months

Hi-

I would really appreciate some help.

We've been on SCD for 10 days.

Followed the intro diet for 3 days and are now at stage 1.

All has been going well, except my son just broke out in eczema ( first time

ever).

Is this something that can be expected early in the diet?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I hadn't that possibility -- thanks for the idea!

When your son is having eczema as part of die-off, how long does that

usually last?

Hi ,

My daughter (16 mo.) has the most severe case of eczema that I have ever heard

of. It has gotten worse since we started SCD and chelation. In trying to

pinpoint the cause we have done urine tests, bacterial and fungal cultures, and

allergy tests.

In our case the bacterial and fungal cultures came back negative. And while we

are still waiting on the urine tests to find out if it is related to clostridia,

that doesn't appear to be the whole reason at this point.

Our DAN said that her best guess was that while allergies may contribute to the

rash, it was probably primarily related to the detoxification she is

experiencing. Apparently, when the liver is doing all it can to detox but all

its efforts are not enough, the skin -- our largest " filter organ " -- picks up

some of the workload. It works to excrete some of the gunk.

Perhaps your son has eczema because he is responding well to the diet. It is

likely that the nutrition he is now absorbing is enabling his body to fight

infections and viruses and even eliminate some toxins (environmental as well as

food-related) that he was previously " holding in. " If this is the case, it

would be normal to see some of it excreted in the skin.

Concerning the idea of die-off. My theory is that this is a factor as well. On

the days when Elle is chelating, her rash clears a bit. On the days when she is

not chelating, her rash gradually flares up until we chelate again. I suspect

that when we stop " moving her metals " with the chelators (which feed the yeast),

we begin to experience die-off from the diet which in turn affects her rash.

Then the chelators stir everything up again for a few days while pulling her

metals and her extra dosage of glutithione helps her liver out a bit more,

relieving her skin for a bit. And the cycle continues.

Of course, I am not a doctor. These are just my ideas and experiences. But I

hope that you will be encouraged! You child's eczema could be a sign that

healing is taking place.

My eczema got worse when I started the diet and my face turned blood

red and was extremely sore (it hurt to smile). But since my stomach

and bowels felt better than it had in years I rode it out. It cleared

up in a week or so and then my skin was better than it had ever been.
