Jim,

From what I understand, there are lawyers out there that will take your

disibility case and only charge you if they get you through. If they win your

disability case, they go back to when you first applied and pick up the back

payments. The lawyer would take a percentage of that.

My mother just received approval for complete dissability and she went

through on the very first try. Hers is for her heart. She has a lot of pain

too, but the approval came because she is in congestive heart failure. If they

add to that the pain and the fact that she had a serious car accident years ago

that rendered one of her legs pretty mangled, they just took pity on her I

guess.

It makes me so sad to think that people are denied when they really need it

and others that really don't need it are getting it. Right now I am really

frustrated about something different, but similar. My husbands company just

decided to switch to a new insurance carrier. I was reading through the new

paperwork and found out my daughters bunions will not be covered and neither

will anything with my feet problems. I have been in severe pain with my feet

for a couple of years and always thought at some point I might have to have foot

surgery. Now I see that nothing with the foot is covered. On top of that, the

policy say's they won't cover any hospitalization for chronic pain. So what

happens if I end up wracked with pain from head to toe and can't even stand up?

Then am I to assume that I am just SOL? What is my daughter to do if her feet

start to hurt her? Right now her bunions are not hurting her, but we wanted to

get them taken care of while she would only need a couple of toes on each foot

broken. Now if we wait until we can find the money to get her feet operated on

out of pocket, she could get much worse and end up having more of her toes

broken. How can it even be legal for these companies to deny these coverages?

Ok we are not to sweat the small stuff I know. The stress will just make my

current flare even more pronounced. To be honest I am even unsure if Fibro is

considered a medically necessary covered problem with our new company. By the

way, it's Blue Cross/Blue Shield. We had them in the past. I really hate them!

Jim writes,> I seem to be the only male so far that I have seen

We have had others on this list but they don't stay long. I don't know if is

because there are so many women and not enough me or what it is. If it is

the fact that there are a lot of women, that is because the majority of fibro

patients are women.

I would think that if you had fibro and were male that you would stick around

to get information. After all, we are all in the same boat and a very, leaky

boat it is.

Women vs.. Men

Just out of curiosity, are there any men in this group? I know the

statistics report that women are much more afflicted with this disease

than men. I seem to be the only male so far that I have seen. Just

another one of my curious thoughts. I guess dreaming up such questions

helps me mind off of the pain and other stuff!!
