LOL...I don't think it's far fetched at all

considering how crazy we get from not being treated

properly for this disease. My ex endo, who is now

retired, actually wrote on my chart that my hypo was

undertreated, then he treated me, and I was STILL

undertreated..LOL..gads. I keep thinking we are our

best doctors. I did have an FNA done on Thursday since

there was a funky nodule that is bothering me, I will

get the results on Monday afternoon. I am not

expecting anything terrible, and will not be back to

see him once I have those results. The women here are

much more knowledgeable and supportive and my GP is

willing to run any test I ask for and Rx's me 3 grains

at this point. I have run in to some adrenal issues,

which I am not going to discuss with her. I will be

asking for another increase the next time I see her.

Will see what happens.

Good luck to you Kerry. Yeah the doctor gives you medicine but not enough. Gotta

keep you hypo so he or she can have regular patients and writing out more

prescriptions and make more money.

I'm sure most everyone here is going or has gone through the same problems. A

friend of mine told me about this lady that is hypo and gets such bad digestion

problems that she has to eat baby food. I sure would like to have a talk with

her about maybe being undertreated. You just can't help everyone in this world.

digestive

tract damage - malaborption - that sort of thing. That lady may be undertreated

lactose intolerant, needs digestive enzymes, possible parasites, need

probiotics.....but she'll never hear all that from her doc.

it's not necessarily the hypo now causing this. I also keep some baby food

fruit here because of digestion problems that started long before I was

Yeah, that is what I have heard about endos, too. I only went to an endo one

time when I had graves disease. Just could not afford her so I went to a local

internal medicine doctor that did not know much about graves. He didn't admit it

but you can tell ya know!!!

Re: Re: Looking for a good understanding

doctor!!!

That sounds like a great idea Kerry. The thought definitely crossed my mind.

I think the problem with most doctors is they didn't get enough training about

thyroid. I would like to go to an endo but geees that cost money that I don't

have. Also, I would sure hate to spend all that money and they wouldn't do a

thing for me. I don't think I could handle another disappointment after seeing

three doctors. I might have a nervous breakdown or might end up in jail after

giving the doctor a black eye. Heee!! that is pretty farfetched huh???

I prefer my GP to any endo!..However, I did go see one

just recently to get an FNA done on a nodule to rule

out malignancy. My cortisol levels are already high at

night, and don't need more of that! LOL...I will not

be returning to see him, as he wanted to down my dose

of Armour. ugh. My GP is happy to raise me, checks

every little bump and owie and doesn't rush me out.

She also has read all the materials I have brought

her. When the other doctors in her office tried to get

her to tell me Armour was dangerous and I could go

hyper, and I countered with " it's my body and I will

worry about being hyper when I am no longer hypo " , she

seemed to then move into wanting to see me get better

rather than worrying about the dosage. I have even

told her that I tweak my own dose and she hasn't said

a word to me about that. I know that most here don't

have a good doc, and I am not saying mine is 100%

perfect, but she does work with me and doesn't think I

am a nut..LOL

That is great that she works with you. Does GP stand for general practitioner? I

like an FNP that I had one time. She seemed more interested and sympathetic. The

problem is she has to take some orders from the doctor.

They are all TSH worshippers. I have learned enough on my symptoms to know how

to take care of myself.

I went back hypo because I felt hyper so I started taking 1/2 of a pill and darn

guess the radioactive iodine just started nuking my thyroid all of a sudden.

I have heard that after taking radioactive iodine(for graves) your levels can

drop like a rock. That I do believe.
