Hi thanks for welcoming me. I live in NJ now but I used to live in

Phila. I love it here and I think it has something to do with my health

overall. Since I have moved I have had no flare ups of the colitis and my

LFT's have been normal for two years. But it seems that I am always afraid

of what is lurking(the groups favorite word). How long has your son been

diagnosed and how is he? I am glad that I have found this group it is great!

It has given me a better outlook and already has taught me that things

aren't so bad, it could be worse. Write soon, and thank you

n,

How long did you have this detox problem from milk? I took my son off milk

once for 1 week. I gave him milk back and it didn`t seem to effect him for

several days, then he started having meltdowns and screaming fits constantly.

I took him back off the milk, but even after more than 1 week, he was still

having these rages and meltdowns. (The first time off of the milk, he didn`t

rage or meltdown). What do you make of this? Do you think it could be the

milk? I still have not given him milk because I am afraid it is not out of

his system yet. Appreciate any insights. He has been wearing dh and I out.

You will be the hero at the office (if you share :-) How many people from work have you convinced to buy a Vitamix machine? (You sure are one of my " frequent sales referral " friends!)

I don't know what I'd do without a back up machine. My first machine (a 5000) had " issues " with the variable speed control (it was getting " jumpy " ) but I kept putting off sending it in for repairs because I couldn't imagine even one day without it. I won a 5200 at a sales meeting so I sent my 5000 in right away. Now my 5200 has " issues " with the variable speed control (I'm sure it is just a screw that needs tightening) it is also a " little bit " jumpy between variable speeds 1 and 4, but I've lent out my 5000, so I haven't sent in my 5200 for repairs.

NOW, the company has asked us to take a demo machine from show to show to show (instead of demonstrating a new machine every show) so I'll have that machine as a back up, and I " m sending in my stainless 5200 for repairs to the variable speed control.

So sorry this happened Tony - I look forward to hearing that as it dries, all of its features are working again (fingers crossed), but even if that happens, I'd still send it in for a good check up / clean out.

Blessings,

Thanks.

Already had the tool. Last time it came apart I was making a protein bar. (Similar consistency of almond butter so no big mess)

So it's tightened now.

I do have low and high now. (Didn't an hour ago so maybe once it dries out it'll be ok)

If not I may end up getting a 2nd machine before I send this back so I don't go through withdrawals.

Then I'll keep the 2nd one at work once I get both working.

I still made another batch of soup afterwards.

2 batches of protein bars

1 batch of honey mustard dressing.

Plus soup and a smoothie for breakfast. (before the disaster)

6 times in one day is a record for me.

This is exactly what happened in my case, although I do not know whether the variable speed was working or not, as, unlike you, I didn't have the courage to re-try the machine before speaking with Customer Service! When I did speak with them, the Rep stated that I would need a tool to put the container together again, as I would be unable to tighten it enough by hand. Perhaps this is what is wrong in your case. You are unable to tighten the blades to the container tight enough for the " threads " to properly grab into the machine, maybe?? And that might be what is causing you to be unable to use the variable speed?

Two people at work. One has his wife using it a lot for

smoothies.

Another has her husband use it just for protein shakes as a

" blender "

We had an old 1960's 2000 machine for a week or so but no one

really used it.

I asked her if I bought one for work if she's make soup. (Too

much prep work for her...)

I was soo excited last night as the woman at the checkout at

Trader Joe's wants one.

I told her I bought sweet potatoes for a smoothie.... .

I tried it this am and it is getting better. A little jumpy as

you say from speeds 1-4 so I'll let it dry out a few more days

and see.

Too bad Vitamix didn't have a swap (cross ship) program

1. I call cust service to get machine repaired.

2. They send tag for me to ship it.

3. They bill my credit card for $450 (or whatever) for a demo

machine.

4. When I receive demo machine I ship broken one back

5. Whe broken one is repaired and received

6. Ship demo machine back

7. Company receves demo back and refunds the $450 demo loaner fee

I think you should suggest this to them.

I would like to have the information, ; thanks!

While Kefir is one of the more healthy styles of yogurt, I found a type of

yogurt that you can make right on your countertop with no heating or any effort

at all. I bought a starter 4 years ago and have been making it ever since. I

have it in my morning smoothie every day and have only been sick once (short

cold) since I started eating it. The probiotics may not be as high as they are

in kefir, but its still good and its easy, easy, easy! If anyone is interested,

I can give you more information. ~katie

We liked the piima, but we decided we liked the villi the best. I came home from a trip to Japan with my son where we had the Caspian Sea Yogurt each morning for breakfast and fell in love with it. So in my research into it, I found this guy that sold 5 different types and we tried them all. Villi just fit our wants the best. But they are all really good! ~katie

Just know that when you feed cats fish (canned) it is missing the

right quantity of Taurine (an essential amino acid to them) and not

to do it often, unless you buy supplementary taurine to give them.

Fresh fish is not good for them per reading I have done over some 30

years of owning cats. We have a cat who will only eat raw, so to

ensure she gets all the nutrients she needs, husband uses a complete

vitamin powder which he cuts slits and stuffs inside of her daily

chicken leg. She likes the vitamins so much she will lick it off his

gloves yet totally refuses to chew a chewable tablet of the same

brand. Funny girl she is.

You will be the hero at the office (if you

share :-) How many people from work have you

convinced to buy a Vitamix machine? (You sure

are one of my "frequent sales referral"

friends!)

I don't know what I'd do without a back up

machine. My first machine (a 5000) had

"issues" with the variable speed control (it

was getting "jumpy") but I kept putting off

sending it in for repairs because I couldn't

imagine even one day without it. I won a 5200

at a sales meeting so I sent my 5000 in right

away. Now my 5200 has "issues" with the

variable speed control (I'm sure it is just a

screw that needs tightening) it is also a

"little bit" jumpy between variable speeds 1

and 4, but I've lent out my 5000, so I haven't

sent in my 5200 for repairs.

NOW, the company has asked us to take a demo

machine from show to show to show (instead of

demonstrating a new machine every show) so

I'll have that machine as a back up, and I"m

sending in my stainless 5200 for repairs to

the variable speed control.

So sorry this happened Tony - I look forward

to hearing that as it dries, all of its

features are working again (fingers crossed),

but even if that happens, I'd still send it in

for a good check up / clean out.

ago so maybe once it dries out it'll be ok)

If not I may end up getting a 2nd machine

before I send this back so I don't go through

withdrawals.

Then I'll keep the 2nd one at work once I get

both working.

I still made another batch of soup afterwards.

2 batches of protein bars

1 batch of honey mustard dressing.

Plus soup and a smoothie for breakfast.

(before the disaster)

6 times in one day is a record for me.

This is exactly what happened in my case,

didn't have the courage to re-try the machine

before speaking with Customer Service! When I

did speak with them, the Rep stated that I

would need a tool to put the container

together again, as I would be unable to

tighten it enough by hand. Perhaps this is

what is wrong in your case. You are unable to

tighten the blades to the container tight

enough for the "threads" to properly grab into

the machine, maybe?? And that might be what is

causing you to be unable to use the variable

speed?

I have a favor to ask everybody.  When you reply to messages, could you delete all the other messages except the one you are replying to?  Some of them get really long and, at least the way my e-mail software does it, it puts all the e-mails with same subject together.  So I end up scrolling, scrolling, scrolling and it is difficult to sometimes find the new messages attached (I hope that makes sense).  This is especially true with digest messages which are hugely long!

Thanks so much!RenaIf God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Happy moments, praise God. Difficult moments, seek God. Quiet moments, worship God. Painful moments, trust God. Every moment, thank God.

Thanks Lea Ann - that was just what I was looking for. I don't know

about GAPS, but I've read enough about probiotics to make me a strong

believe in it.

Keep in mind that my diet is always evolving as I learn new things. SO

FAR (and I'm not saying it won't evolve again - I'd still love to eat

less meat) this is the diet that I feel best on. IF I ever get my act

together enough to do the full GAPS protocol, perhaps I'll heal my gut

enough that I can eat a more varied diet.

On GAPS probiotic supplements are a huge part of the healing process.

Their is often a huge herxheimer reaction to the supplements and they

say that people with chronic fatigue often can only take a small part of

a probiotic pill per day. I fit that description 100%. I can only stick

my tongue in the powder and get the tiniest little bit and I still can

feel a reaction. It takes me about 5 days to finish one pill! I'd like

to heal my gut enough that I could take the full doses (several

capsules) of the BioKult (the probiotic she likes) per day. That seems

like a pretty far-off goal.

This is a LONG (and not will organized FAQ) but for anyone interested in

GAPS, this (I think) is the best way to learn a lot about it. It took me

about 2 days of reading to get to the end of the page! http://gapsdiet.

Here is another GAPS FAQ (that I haven't read yet, so can't comment on

the quality of the information)
