Question about swelling and pain killers

I just had a question as to if anyone has every heard this before. My

mom was talking to a co-worker about me and my wrist. When I have my

wrist wrapped or splinted for an extended period of time, when I

unwrap it it swells and becomes very painful. Her co-worker said that

she had a doctor tell her that if you were taking pain killers and had

something swell up after it was unwrapped then there was definatly

something wrong in that joint. Does this make any sense? Can you

even decipher my cryptic message lol (sorry it is past midnight and i

cant sleep even though i have to be up at 7 so i can graduate at 1!)
