Guest guest
Louisa, how scary for you! It surely does sound like a seizure, and the small absences during the day you describe could be what are called absence seizures. Time to see the neurologist again most likely. I'm so sorry. Just what you need. Something else to worry over. (((hugs)))

Guest guest
Louisa, has seizures, which were very well controlled until September of last year. He started having partial complex again (his head, arm, and leg would jerk together). His neuro switched his meds. A week later, I walked into his bedroom, and he was having a tonic clonic (full blown convulsion) in his sleep. It was typically the time he wakes up....anyway, my answer is yes, I have seen this. I'm glad you were able to videotape Liesel's. I think another attempt at an MRI may be an order, or at least an EEG. Since she wasn't able to sleep for the last one, perhaps they can give her a higher dose of the sedative or a different one? 's seizures are under control again, but I am convinced I felt fifty grey hairs pop in my head that morning he had " the big one. " I know how scary they can be--let me know if you need to talk. Guest guest
Louisa, I'm pretty sure you just described a seizure too. I would schedule an appointment with a neurologist and take the tape with you to show him, or show the tape to her regular Dr.. Sorry to have something else added to your plate :-( Sue
Guest guest
Sounds like seizure to me too. You probably need to get it checked out. It was a great idea to video tape the seizure. I think that could be very useful. Especially if you are able to document some more. Good luck to you. Guest guest
> Has anybody else seen this on arousal from sleep or am I being > silly? > Not silly at all, Louisa...'s seizures have all been during transition from sleep to wake or vice versa...it is, I am told, a very vulnerable time in the nervous system. Trust your gut. I was told for 4 years that what I was seeing " couldn't be seizures " , that I was " overprotective " and " looking for things to be wrong " ...wasn't until he fell out of bed and hit his head during a full tonic/clonic seizure, then wouldn't wake up, that they believed me. Guest guest
You know, now that you mention it, occassionally n will shake quite violently when roused from a deep sleep. I never really thought it was a seizure though, more like an adjustment to temperature change -- warm snuggly bed to cool room in winter time ... but I would certainly check with your pediatrician, particularly if you think it is getting worse. Guest guest
Thanks all, After seeing the video it sure was a seizure. I checked on Liesel tonight and there were a few twitches but it wasn't as bad as last night. I am making an appointment for her tomorrow, in the mean time I will record all these episodes.
