l had my left hip resurfaced 8 months. l can do anything without any

pain or disconfort and back to work in extreme condition 2 weeks ago.

l have no restriction other than impact sport.l know that the other

hip has to be resurface within let's say 1 year. The pain is there,

is acute and can be devastating at times.

l certainly know that by experience that pain is an awful ennemy and

it can rob us our (thoughtful) thinking. May l take a few minutes of

your time to read a few thoughts that l needed desperately when l'm

overwhelmed by pain. l wanted to do everything by myself at times

uncautiously and some other time deliberately. Have l thought or been

told that l can and need to remain active (only according to my

physical condition) without bearing weight on my hip? ls working

compatible with the condition of my hip? Have l ckecked my insurance

coverage if my doctor could put me off work? Have l been suggested

to do some pre op non weight bearing stretching exercises to

preserve my articular set up? l was allowed to ride the bycicle. Has

it being suggested by a health professonial to try walking when

possible with a cane on the oposite side of your aching hip to

(preserve) the bone stock as well as to get some pain relief? One

cane, however, puts some stress on the other hip. l make sure that l

always used one cane because l had mortage insurance on top of the

one l had at work. Being caught walking without a cane could have

ruined me. l used 2 canes when possible and they gave me so much

relief that l stop limping and almost without pain. l even used the

crutches when l had activities that required to walk on a long

distance.

l anticipate that l will have to stop to work again. When

exactly? l do not know. My os told me to stop as soon as l begin to

limp or l find it to painful to work unless my employer sends me home

or have not been called for surgery. We learn to give we learn to

take by our experience and also by the experience of others. Learning

from the experience and support of others on this board over the past

year has helped me beyond l can imagine.
