Hey Mo, I love your handle!

I can tell you what I took and am still taking:

MSM, Omega-3, Coral Calcium, Vitamins B6 & E.

All natural supplements that work.

Good luck.

Mo,

Supplements is a field all unto itself, and a highly unregulated one

at that. There's all kinds of information and advice, some of it

conflicting, and much of it self-serving, - which I find interesting

considering there's often a lack of credible studies, especially

for the lesser known and less common supplements. Another problem is

that when you do take them, it's not easy to know if they're

doing any good, or any harm for that matter. So what's a person

to do? The bottom line is that you're responsible for doing the

best you can to learn about what you take. This is particularly true

if you're taking any prescription meds – you need to do

everything possible to avoid anything that affects the meds, or

anything with potentially negative side effects for that matter. Your

doctor is a good place to start. Or perhaps starting with well

thought out food intake plan is #1. If you're unsure of your diet

perhaps you should talk to a nutritionist.

Having said that, I admit to taking more supplements than most. To

me, it begins with good basic nutrition, including portion sizes.

Then you add an exercise regimen that includes weight resistance,

flexibility training, and cardiorespiratory conditioning. Post op

patients can benefit from supplements that promote blood flow and

encourage bone growth and cell generation. Alan Ray, a frequent

contributor here, has an excellent list of supplements backed up by

sound reasons why he takes them. Perhaps he can share some of his

thinking. Hope you don't mind Alan.
