Guest guest
Today we took Raffi in to see his vet to have his leg x-rayed and hopefully loose his hot pink cast. He broke his leg on Father's Day (just over 5 weeks ago) and today we were all looking forward to having a 4 legged doggie again. First they wanted his weight... Still 4.7 lbs with the cast weighing .2lbs LoL ;-) We had to drop him off as they were really busy with doing teeth cleanings so the tech couldn't do the x-ray just then. Raffi went off in the vets arms and we drove home with the plan of going back at 2. 12.30--The Vet called. They just did the x-rays and they showed that despite 3 weeks of immobilization, the x-rays showed absolutely no healing--at all! He says he has no choice but to strongly reccomend Raffi have a pin put in. You can imagine how upset we were to hear that in 5 weeks no healing took place. So, tomorow morning we bring him in to the vets and that afternoon he's booked to have his tiny leg cut open and the bones realigned with a pin. God help this special little dog. We've already racked up $500 with the cast/emerg. visit/x-rays/follow up and the pin surgery will be $600 more including x-rays. This is extremely reasonable for this major surgery as the specialist hospital we wanted to take him to would be $1116 on top of the $500. Our vet is confident he can fix Raffi up. He is a great, kind, vet in it for all the right reasons and I sure hope he can fix our precious dog up. We don't want to have to amputate this beautiful dog's leg or have to put him down. Please keep the little fellow in your thoughts tomorow when he undergoes his operation. These procedures are extra hard on these tiny animals and they have a much harder time bouncing back post operatively. Raffi is a fighter and a treasured pet and hopefully luck will be on our side tomorow. I just clipped his face and feet and will do the rest of his shave after supper as it will be a while before he will be up to grooming again. :'-S <--very nervous, anxious, scared -Rhea :-D <---always happy, can we snuggle? want to play fetch? -Raffi

Guest guest
Oh Rhea sweetheart, I am so sorry to hear that raffi's leg hasn't healed up as hoped. I know you must be feeling very upset and worried for your special little man, but I just know that he has some wonderful vets looking after him, lots of friends praying for him and an absolutely amazing young lady there to help him back to fitness too. Hang in there Darl and cling to the fact that Raffi has a spirit as big as yours! Thinking of you both and sending extra special helpings of love, hugs and good luck to you for tomorrow. Love and hugs....Jo xxx
