Guest guest
Hi Hippies Well I am now 1 week after the operation and I have just come home. I don't know what I was worried about! The surgeon and physio are happy for me to do anything I like - there are no restrictions or rules! The pain is minimal and comes only from the muscles. I have many wasted muscles that need building up with physio which I am working on. I lost a lot of blood and needed 2 units which they gave me 2 days after the op. I really felt better then and from lying flat on my back, I used a zimmer frame for 3 days and then went on to crutches. I have taken the frame home aswell as the crutches, for use at night time. Some of my leg is numb but I am told that will return. Stairs are no problem - for me, going up is easier than going down. I highly recommend Professor to anyone in the UK, he is such a skilled surgeon with a wonderful caring nature. Thank you hippies for all your advice before I went in. If any of you out there are contemplating this procedure or have any questions, I will be very happy to answer them. Everyone was so kind to me when I had questions and I would like to do the same for others.
