Guest guest
Dear all, I drive for a living - could all of you post-ops let me know how soon before you all felt fit enough to drive post op? I sometimes have to drive for several hours and I need to give my boss a realistic idea of my post-op limitations. I guess that although driving is banned for x weeks post op, the tolerance of long drives takes longer. What is your experience? Thanks
Guest guest
I had my right hip done. I started driving a little over 5 weeks after the surgery. I couldn't drive for very long because my knee on that side hurt. I guess it was from lack of use. It was 6 weeks before I was comfortable driving for an hour or more. I did drive for several hours down to S.C. for my 6 week follow up with Dr. Gross - splitting the driving time with my wife. Guest guest
I was curious. Did you have hip resurface or total. It was my understanding that driving was permitted in two weeks postop hip resurface. I am single and was hoping to be independant asap. Guest guest
--- Hi . I had my right hip resurfaced by Dr. Gross. At two weeks I was driving my truck back to work which is about 50 minutes each way with no problem. I live in michigan and at 6 weeks I drove back to South Carolina which is a 12 hour drive and I had no problems at all. Guest guest
I had a resurf. If it had been my left, I probably could have driven after 2 weeks but it was my right. It was definitely not strong enough to drive safely after only two weeks.
