I don't know if I fit your description of being all that young, but I had a

resurface about two years ago. I have CHD that was undetected and progressed

very rapidly. I thought I had pulled a groin muscle in a lead fall rock

climbing. I am an avid climber. When the pain did not go away I finally went

to my doc- 6 months later. He sent me to an OS with a full description of my

activity levels. Fortunately for me this OS- Dr Bone (believe it or not) did

not want me to have a THR because he felt it would mean doom for my active

lifestyle. He wanted me to have a periactebular osteotomy.

Bu the time I could schedule an appointment with the specialist who performed

those, I had degenerated to the point where I was no longer a candidate.

Happily I stumbled upon resurfacing and this site. Went to Belgium- end of

story- or rather the beginning. I would have been happy to be on the rock

following a 5.8. Resurfacing truly gave me my life back as I am climbing at my

old 5.11+ levels. I cycle hard, kick box, lift weights, snow board and run. No

problems. I decided early on that I would give this device a run for its money

and I believe that I have. I did follow my doctors recommendations, but

basically he has faith in the device and has been behind my activities 100%.

There is a gal who had a resurfacing about 8-9 years ago. She has also had a

child. You can find her story in the files section of this site. All the best

to you. I believe that you have made a wise choice. I couldn't be happier. I

post on this site from time to time because being living proof of a miracle

tends to make one somewhat of an " evangelist " .

Kind Regards,

young female surface hippys

Hi I am 36 and have a severely degenerated hip. My doctor is working

on getting me on the list for resurfacing clinical test in Alberta.

Might be up to a year wait for consultation. In the meantime I am

going to try some synavisc injections for temporary relief. I am very

active. I can't run anymore. but I bike and hike and I rock climb a

lot.

would love to hear from any " younger " people/women if they have had

this surgery and hear their stories. Of interest is anyone who has had

a pregnancy post resurfacing.

thanks kim
