Guest guest
I live in West Michigan and will go to Dr. Gross in South Carolina, if my HMO covers it. I was considering Dr. Goldberg in Cleveland, but Dr. Gross is one of the top 5 doctors in the states as far as the number of hip resurfacings he has done. There are a number of people from Michigan who have gone to him and are happy with their results. Here's a link to his web site. http://www.grossortho.com/doctor.html I finally quit talking about it today and FedEx'd my x-rays to Dr. Gross this afternoon on the way home from work. We'll see what he says and if my HMO is going to do it's job. Good luck to you. > Hi all, > > I am so glad I found this site as I am considering the hip resurfacing > instead of the replacement. Guest guest
Janine, The only surgeon doing resurfacing in Michigan that I am aware of is Dr. Blaha at UofM Medical Center. I saw him for a second opinion. I believe that he just started doing resurfacing this year. I had my resurfacing operation in January by Dr. Gross in South Carolina. I was very confident prior to surgery and am happy with the results. Guest guest
There are lists of doctors in the US who have been in the resurfacing trials, they have done the most of the metal-on-metal resurfacings (many other docs may have experience with the hemi-resurfacing - just the femur side, since its been FDA approved for quite a while) .... http://www.activejoints.com/hipdocs.html http://www.activejoints.com/corindocs.html As mentioned the closest to Michigan is Dr Goldberg in Cleveland. There have been patients of his participating in this forum. Good luck getting your hip problem addressed. Guest guest
Janine: I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Missouri. I had my surgery with Dr. Mont in Baltimore and was approved to have the surgery by BC/BS prior to the surgery. I picked Dr. Mont because of his expertise and how many C+'s he had put in. I was happy with the results. I left ALL the filing and paperwork to Dr. Mont's office. If I am not mistaken, several other posters from Michigan have done the same. Good luck.
