I wonder if part of the reason you feel this way is that your pain was

so intermittent and indeed has pretty much disappeared the couple of

weeks before your operation. I'm sure once you're cleared to do some

stretching and serious ROM work, it'll come back like gangbusters.

My situation was quite different: I was heading downhill fast that

last couple of months, so even though I feel pretty weak and wimpy my

ROM is definitely better than it was that last month or two before

surgery. I can hardly wait until I'm cleared for PT. My chair is right

beside my stationary bike - you have no idea how hard it's been to

resist the temptation just to *try* it for a few minutes.

Actually, it felt like someone rolled up a dishtowel lengthwise, and

then sewed it under the skin.
