Guest guest
Jim, I had an epidural 3 weeks ago, & all it did was block the pain. I got up and walked around with it in place. They really are quite amazing, and for me it was a good thing because the drugs from the anesthesia, and the vicodin (etc.) made me deranged and depressed. So the epidural meant that I would require less of them. Good luck on your surgery my friend, and epidural or not you'll do great. Your'e in good hands. Guest guest
I also had the epidural. I had no pain but I had a hard time moving around while the epidural was in place. As I told the nurse, my legs felt like sacks of flour - I had very little control over them. I was able to get up with a walker but that was almost entirely an exercise in upper body strength. I was only able to move from the bed to the recliner. The cool thing was when they took the epidural out, all the feeling came back in just a couple of hours and then I was able to get up and walk around the hospital on crutches.
