Guest guest
Thanks, Sue. The presentation in front of 40 people was very difficult for me, but I just thought about the children who are served by the FRC. I've repressed all memory of it, however. Guest guest
> I got a 56. > > Does that make me whimpy Only if my 57 makes me whimpy. I don't think I am. I've been accused of being bitchy more often than considerate. Tina
Guest guest
> Being empathetic doesn't have to mean being a doormat, yes? > Absolutely not. But I think it's the reason I'm accused of being bitchy at times. I understand where people are coming from and why they feel the way they do but I don't always 'act' sympathetic if I feel I need to behave in another manner to protect my kids or myself. I used to be a doormat. I used to be a victim. Not anymore. Just because I'm very empathetic and I want everyone around me to be happy doesn't mean that I should sacrifice my own well-being for theirs. *wiping brow* but dang it's hard sticking to my principles some days! That perhaps is the error in the whole test and the error that people make when they assume that empathy is sympathy. It ain't. Sympathy is weaker and feebler and not worth a whole lot really. Empathy is truly understanding where someone is coming from, the good AND the bad, and being able to predict with some reliabilty and warmth and understanding what people want and need. You can be fairly cynical, i.e., have low expectations of your fellow man, based on experience, but still be quite empathetic. Surely the best counsellors would function that way? Guest guest
> My SQ is 22. Hmmmmm.... Okay...I took both; EQ is 37 (average but lower than women are supposed to be)...SQ is 17 (way low for anyone). Apparently I stink at life in general?
