Hi, Helen:

I'm in my mid-50s and almost 6 weeks past surgery, so I'm just a

little ahead of you in recovery time. My sleeping instructions were

that it was OK to sleep on either side when it felt comfortable.

Although I've been able to turn onto my side OK for about two weeks

now, it's only just in the last few nights that it's been comfortable

to sleep on the (non-op) side. The operated side is coming around,

too. I was told to use a pillow between the legs for side-sleeping or

turning, and I have found that a long " body pillow " is a fabulous

help and comfort, as others on this site have suggested.

Sounds like you are doing beautifully in your recovery. I've found

this all pretty miraculous. At home, I'm walking without any cane

now, but still using one as a precaution on my walks.

All best,
