Guest guest
Hi Carol, Sorry about the very fast 'death' of your hip joint............... There is someone who has posted here who didn't accept the US surgeons no resurface with degree of AVN and went to Dr. DeSmet........... Either they will post to this or you can have a look back through some postings re AVN........... My understanding is that it all depends on just what damage you are talking and why the AVN got going so badly.......i.e. if there is enough bone left after removing bone back to reason why the blood supply was interrupted.........and whether it can be safely assumed the blood supply is okay for what's left.......... for the stump as well as the neck bit requires blood supply to keep it healthy enough to support the prothesis............. Only very experienced OS will know the answers to that one.........no doubt after seeing xrays etc......... Dr DeSmet seems to give opinions freely so no harm in asking I would think........... Edith LBHR Dr. L Walter Syd Aust 8/02 > >> > I'm interested in knowing if anyone else has been told this and had a > successful resurfacing done.
