Guest guest
Being a new member and reading all of the positive emails today I now feel reassured and ready for the 'Big Day' tomorrow! I can only echo many of your thoughts and experiences. Being a 46 year old active female I no longer want to have to give up the things I once enjoyed in life, making the excuse it was down to old age that I could no longer do these things. The final straw came when we came to book our ski holiday this season, I was in denial, trying to kid myself and the people around me that I was up for it! However, after realising I could no longer get in and out the car without great discomfort or bend down to put on socks/stockings, how on earth did I think I was going to put on those god awful ski boots (which are a feat at the best of health) and jump on and off the ski lifts, not to mention 'hot dogging' yeah dream on. After being off the anti inflammatory for a week and realising what real pain these tablets were masking and also all of your positive feedback, I now know I have made the right decision. I am in tomorrow for the left side HRT and 7-8 weeks later back for the right, I don't do things by halves! Being the independent type we 'hippies' appear to be, my only real concern is having to rely on someone else to nurse you through but once I am able, I will be back running around looking after everyone else ensuring they are alright. Also the thought of being away from work for such a length of time and communicating but now I have my new surfacehippy friends I am thinking positive and my friends/family cannot believe I am actually looking forward to the operation, it is because like most of us we just want OUR LIVES BACK please! Thanks guys you have been a great comfort........'I'll be back'! P the Ski
