Turtles shouldn't try to run......

Hi

I have recently had my second resurfacing. First time round I

qualified for the turtle club big time!!

I am now finding it difficult to believe but I am 23 days post-

op...and 23 days post-four-years-of-a-world-that-got-greyer-and-more-

painful-each-month.

The expanse of horizon that is before me is almost too much for me to

contemplate....but it is wonderful, though still seen mainly from a

window I should point out!!

And what a different post-op experience the second has been from the

first!

First time round at 18 days I was very slow, physically and mentally,

and needing to rest for a couple of hours each afternoon. My OS had

entered from the side and cut much muscle. I returned to work part-

time at 7 weeks and was still overcoming the after effects of

Tramadol many months later.

This time my OS (a different one) entered from the rear and parted,

rather than cut, most of the muscles. As a result I was back at work

from day 18 for four hours a day (I run a small company) including

hosting a farewell lunch for a retiring employee!!

However, I suspect that 'once a turtle always a turtle'....as I am

now dealing with the consequences of my exuberance. I am having to

take the advice I have dished out liberally on this board: to listen

to my poor body and chill out!! It's as though my body is

saying 'OK, this one will heal better and quicker and you feel

great....but....turtles still shouldn't try to run'.

That's OK....but turtles can feel very, very positive, hopeful and

(dare I say it) happy....
