Alas " blood pressure " isn't indexed, and there will always be some who get high blood pressure when hyper, or who have naturally high blood pressure (often inherited). There are other reference works on Thyroid disease ;-) -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.1 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQE+P/plGFXfHI9FVgYRAjtgAJ9FzjxfiqaiPc2SrTv8SrhyhXssXACgt00g HyjUTG1ievNQ56KvyHNvlbA= =SSxC -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
Guest guest
In 1992 when I first developed Graves disease, my blood pressure was high even though I took 2 medicines to control it. After I I took ptu for a few months, it went down. Don't know if this is common. I was surprised when I looked it up, to find no mention in Elaine's book and am curious, for myself (my bp is creeping up for the first time in my life, to normal and a bit beyond) and also for a couple of other people around here I've found with thyroid problems. Guest guest
Terry, I agree with Jody. You might be hypo. I know you've had trouble with your weight, too, and now the BP. My blood pressure always goes up when I'm hypo. Sounds like it's time for labs. Holly
Guest guest
Simon, Thanks--I know there are other references, but I'm a bad medical reader and leave that to you (grin). Also running madly right now with work, so simply not enough hours in the day to do the searching. Elaine's book is conveniently next to the computer. I have always had low bp, like 90/60. Like everything else in my life right now, I'm trying to sort out what is cause by GD, what is caused by menopause and natural aging process. Not easy, that! Guest guest
Terry, Before Graves, my blood pressure was routinly 90/60. Everyone commented on my excellent, low bp!! SInce Graves, my blood pressure too has crept up: it remains now around 110/60 or something like that, sometimes going up to 120/60. WHile this is still normal, it's not low anymore. Whenever I'm sub-clinically hypo -- and I mean a TSH that's as low as 2.4, my blood pressure goes way way up. Once, when my TSH was 3., my bp made the machine beep at 140 over something! This is mentioned in several books -- however, of course, I can't remember an exact citation at the moment. My endocrinologist was familiar with this symptom of hypothyroidism, and interpreted my higher than usual blood pressure as an indication that I was a bit hypo . . . HOpe this helps . . B BP question Hi everyone, Could someone explain to me whether there is a correlation between blood pressure and GD symptoms? I was surprised when I looked it up, to find no mention in Elaine's book and am curious, for myself (my bp is creeping up for the first time in my life, to normal and a bit beyond) and also for a couple of other people around here I've found with thyroid problems. Guest guest
My blood pressure did seem to go up a bit, but I have now discovered CoQ10 enzyme and I really feel this had made me feel all around better, and my blood pressure, might even be a little lower that normal 118/70. Guest guest
Hi Terry, When I was hyper my BP went up, after I was on the right dose of ATDs I didn't have any problems with my BP. That was until I had trouble that was stress related. There are a few of us that have higher BP when hyper and also the weight gain. Debbie R. Guest guest
, thanks so much! This is just what I suspected. I am gonna have to find time to do the labs ASAP. Guest guest
My bp is routinely 110-120/70-80 (usually on the lower ends) but went up to 140/90 when I was hyper. Everything I seemed to read (can't quote chapter and verse) indicated that high bp went along with hyper. Considering how much my blood was boiling all the time - Graves rage - high bp wasn't surprising.
