I don't have encouraging news, unfortunately. I took the depo shot

pre surgery for only 1 year. It then took me two years to have a

period--that is without progesterone from the doctor, which they can

prescribed to jump start your period. It took me another 4 years to

get pregnant the 1st time in Feb00, unfortunately I miscarried. We

went thru the pills to jump start ovulation and even went so far as

getting hormone shots for fertility. I was even artificially

inseminated twice, both with no results. Again this is all pre

surgery.

I had lap RNY surgery in July02, I did get pregnant on my own in

March03, again I miscarried. I am now 19 weeks pregnant and

everything is wonderful. But this has taken sooo long to happen.

My suggestion would be, get off the shot now. If you don't have a

period in 3 months at the most, go to your doctor and get him to give

you something to start your period. Once you become regular, start

checking for ovulation with those sticks that they have. You may not

ovulate regularly after the depo--that's what happened to me..but

again this was all pre surgery for me. We (postops) are sooo much

more fertile after surgery. I honestly didn't think I could ever get

pregnant again and then boom.

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope that what happened to

me doesn't happen to you....But once you go off the shot, it WILL

take a few months to get regular again.

Your patience will pay off. Look at all of us who have become

pregnant since surgery.

Good Luck
