Guest guest
Barbara, Thanks for your input. It's encouraging to hear about the positive response to the co-factor in the case reports. I don't believe they know if the coQ10 deficiency is primary. My cardiologist doesn't seem to think it is (I don't have most of the symptoms of a primary CoQ10 def). Then again, I don't fit quite into any category. Not an easy case, I'm told. (But I wonder if there's anyone here that does fit perfectly into a diagnosis) Maggie > > > > > > Thinking of you and praying for the best. Guest guest
Hi, Maggie I think that mitochondrial cytopathy fits into the the larger category of metabolic diseases. One doc wrote this in her letter; " She has a metabolic disorder, probably mitochondrial in nature. " Regards Sunny > > Barbara, > Thanks for your input. Guest guest
Yes, most of us don't fit the textbooks. It's real life vs. theory. Since most coQ10 deficiencies are secondary, so I suppose that alone would make it more likely that yours is also secondary. Some researchers believe that some of these " mixed " cases may represent carrier status for two different disorders, which combined, make for a unique combination of symptoms. For sure we have lots more to learn. I hope you have someone who is interested enough to keep at this puzzle and eventually find more answers for you. It's been one of my ongoing frustrations that when we do find answers in our family, they just seem to raise a whole new set of questions. Take care, Barbara > > > > > > > > Thinking of you and praying for the best.
