Guest guest
Okay.. How can an OB " make " you take the GTT?? Don't you have the right to refuse? I am only 3.5 months out from surgery.. there is no way I am gonig to do the GTT. I am eating a diabetic diet anyhow... if I need to monitor my blood sugar then I will call my PCP and have them order me a monitor thru my insurance. FWIW... I gagged and puked up some of the stuff when I took it the last time.. and I was pre surg... I got very sick and dizzy and almost passed out. But I didn't have GB. - Mommy to: Noah - 10/14/02 - 31 weeker - 3lbs 11 oz Jonah or Isabella - EDD 10/28/04 m/c 7/
Guest guest
Robin, I suggested those tests to my OB, but he ignored me...like I haven't researched...he wouldn't even consider it. I am so happy that you have a very supportive and understanding OB. I don't hate mine at all....yet, but, I disagree with him on this matter. Of course he asked if was considering breastfeeding or bottle, and said I am leaning towards bottle. He said oh, breastfeeding is easy...blah, blah, blah. I told my husband what he said. My husband asked me if I asked my OB when was the last time you had something clamp on to your boob?!!??! My hubby has a point, how the hell would this MALE OB know if it's easy??!?!?!?! Thanks! Guest guest
if gestational diabetes isn't adequately controlled, insulin is the usual method of treatment.

I'm sorry you're running into such unsupportive care providers. =( I know that what's done (with this issue) is done...but I do want to point out that it's not the doctor's decision whether you submit to ANY test...it's 100% your decision. Everything is. It's your body...it's your pregnancy...it's your baby...it's your decision. If you don't want to do something, all you have to do is say, " No, thank you... " If they try to persuade you to do it anyways...all you have to do is say, " No, thank you. " If there is anything they want you to do...from any test, to any proceedure, to any intervention in labor, etc....and you don't want to? All you have to do is say, " No, thank you... " nobody can make you do something you don't want to...period. Good luck from here on out!! =) Soderblom CCCE CD(DONA) CLD Student Midwife - Mesa, AZ CAPPA Board of Directors Doula/CBE/Pregnancy/Birth Photography Owner: Birth Story Diaries - real births, real photos http://www.birthdiaries.com Owner: SouthwestDoulas.com
