We are also going. My dh, myself, Livie and our older son Josh are all going.

We've reserved a room at the Red Roof Inn already in anticipation of the RMH

being full and local hotels being booked also.

Symposium

We are going to the symposium in Iowa in November, but

will have our whole family with us. We are on the

list for RMH.

I was thinking about the RMH too, but I didn't think we'd really be

eligible since we won't be there for 'treatment'.

I'm sure that others will post with news of the weekend and the

symposium in Iowa, but wanted to say how much Claire and I enjoyed

meeting the other parents and kids who were there. It was wonderful

to be part of it.

I heard that about 35 doctors or other professionals attended, from

the U.S. and other countries, and it seemed to be a great success.

They did something new this year, the " 1st Annual Ponseti Clubfoot

Races " .. held at the fieldhouse, in which the kids raced around the

track, with media on hand, and Dr. Ponseti at the " finish line " ,

overseeing it all. The story ran that night on the local TV news, and

here is an article from the local paper:

Many thanks to Charity for all her hard work on the quilt and its

presentation, and M., for instigating and organizing various

gatherings. Others will have more info to offer, I'm sure, but I

wanted to send greetings, and thanks, to all, for such a good event.

Hello everybody; greetings from Colorado.

I'm a long-time member but infrequent visitor to nosurgery4clubfoot. I

just dropped in here because I ran across Theresa M's and Ponseti's

name on that news article this morning.

Update for the old-timers on this list: Ivy is now five years old and

doing great with her foot. Her right foot is two sizes smaller than

her left so we're happy Nordstrom's customers. Her right calf is also

smaller than her left. Otherwise, though, she's doing great --

running, riding her bike, and doing all the outdoor stuff a girl her

age should be doing. I don't have any real recent photos online, but

here's one of her from Spring 2003 on a family hike up a mountain.

We mention the idiopathic talipes to any doctor she sees and they're

all amazed at the flexibility of her foot.

It's good to see the Dr. Ponseti is still going strong there in Iowa.

and Claire,

Thanks for the report on the symposium. We wish that we could have

been there this year. Thank you Charity for putting the quilt

together. Please post some photo's when they are available.

,

I've been meaning to write and thank you for your symposium news. I

really wish we could have been there, but time constraints for such a

long trip made it impossible. It's our busiest time here. That Ponseti

race sounds so cute, what a great idea!

Take care,
