Guest guest
I've been watching this thread about VBACs and that is my sentiment exactly Shelia. My son, my first, had a huge head and after almost 18 hours of labor with no progression I had a c-section (which I had under a general after 9 attempts at giving me an epidural). My son is 10 now and still has a " melon head " which we joke is like a big old cantelope, LOL! When it came time for my 2nd, I told my OB I was " considering " a VBAC. She told me that unless the baby was small, in perfect position, that it would not come out with my hips being so narrow inside but that I could try. I just laughed as you coudln't tell from the outside! I opted for a planned c-section with my 2nd (at 38 weeks due to gestational diabetes) and low and behold I went into labor 9 hours before, ugh! I ended up laboring in triage for 7 hours before I could get into an operating room. Now that I'm pregnant with the 3rd, I'm butting heads with the OB about how early I can plan it as she is at a Catholic hospital and they are very strict about that kind of thing. It would be nice for once to actually have a " planned " c-section and not go into labor. Now that I've rambled, I will take a c-section any day over labor. I make myself get up within hours after surgery and start walking, walking and walking. I've gone out shopping 5 days after surgery both times, the 2nd time being easier than the first.
