Guest guest
Steve I was disagnosed by Dr. Shoffner and checked my report - no " c " . I'm thinking you might have run across another doctor and group of articles. This is always a help to us. There is a list of the different tiers of supplements in the " mito cocktail " on the web site. It is not specifically Dr. Shoffners. laurie > > Reply-To: > Date: Thu, 14 Oct 2004 01:46:37 -0400 > To: > > Subject: mito cocktail, Dr. Schoffner's list of about 15 ??? > > > Hi RH and others > > Regarding this " " mito cocktail " of about 15 on Dr. Shoffner's list, I found > this wonderful review article: > > Mitochondrial Medicine - Molecular Pathology of Defective Oxidative > Phosphorylation > by Egil Fosslien > Department of Pathology, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at > Chicago, Chicago, Illinois > at http://www.annclinlabsci.org/cgi/content/full/31/1/25 . > > Two questions: > > 1) The " therapy " suggestions in the above article lists Melatonin. Guest guest
I'll reiterate based on Alice's email, that this was my personal experience and with a specific doctor. YMMV. I think psychologically I am at peace with my current condition and prognosis, what little there is of that , so that may be why my opinion on my diagnosis is such. I know before I got a muscle biopsy, I was unprepared for what detail they gave me, but now I am waiting to hear if they find a genetic defect. I remember a ways back on this list, most people were " suspected " and " undiagnosed " , but I think the number of people with confirmed mito has increased, in my opinion increasing the value of the list. My answers to your questions: 1) I haven't heard of Melatonin being on the list. Since I tend to be tired more than have insomnia, I would personally stay away from it. I have had bouts with insomnia. 2) The dr. I saw was Shoffner in Atlanta, FYI. I wouldn't feel comfortable posting the list (and it would take some time), but I know many people (including myself) have noted here that they are taking various suppplements, on and off the list, with various results. Perhaps your doctor can get a mito doctor to do a consultation, and take their recommendations for treatment?
